With initial construction just beginning in 1999, Ladera Ranch‘s young and vibrant, 4,000-acre master planned community is strategically located in the foothills of the Orange County Saddleback, halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, and is adjacent to Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita and San Juan Capistrano.
Historically, Ladera Ranch is built on portions of the O’Neill, Avery, and Moiso families’ 23,000-acre Rancho Mission Viejo cattle ranch, which is the largest remaining working ranch in Orange County.
Ladera Ranch emphasizes neighborhood life — within the community are nine major villages; five of these feature themed architectural styles and themed clubhouses alongside parks, pools, playgrounds and open areas within each village. One village is a gated community closed to the general public, but accessible to all card-carrying residents of Ladera Ranch.
Throughout all the Ladera Ranch community are the miles-long hiking trails which connect to Doheny Beach, as well as 18 community parks and smaller neighborhood pools, a private water and skate park, dog park, numerous smaller pockets parks and green belts, and shopping districts featuring specialty shops, restaurants and local boutiques with a wide selection of products to choose from.
Unique features such as speed-reducing roundabouts and landscaped, smaller streets, make Ladera Ranch a beautiful area in which to raise families, retire to, and just generally enjoy the feeling of close-knit community.
